This information can be seen by other organisations who may conduct searches if you apply for credit in future and this may affect your ability to borrow further credit.

Fraud Prevention Agency searches:
Before we provide financing to you, we undertake checks for the purposes of preventing fraud and money laundering and to verify your identity. These checks require us to process personal data about you.
- The personal data you have provided, we have collected from you, or we have received from third parties will be used to prevent fraud and money laundering, and to verify your identity.

- We and fraud prevention agencies may also enable law enforcement agencies to access and use your personal data to detect, investigate and prevent crime.
- We process your personal data on the basis that we have a legitimate interest in preventing fraud and money laundering, and verifying identity, in order to protect our business and comply with laws that apply to us. Such processing is also a contractual requirement of the financing you have requested.
- Fraud prevention agencies can hold your personal data for different periods of time, and if you are considered to pose a fraud or money laundering risk, your data can be held for up to six years.
Automated Decisions
As part of the processing of your personal data, decisions may be made by automated means. This means we may automatically decide that you pose a fraud or money laundering risk if our processing reveals your behaviour to be consistent with that of known fraudsters or money launderers, or is inconsistent with your previous submissions, or you appear to have deliberately hidden your true identity. You have rights in relation to automated decision making: if you want to know more please contact us using the details provided below.
Consequences of Processing
If we, or a fraud prevention agency, determine that you pose a fraud or money laundering risk, we may refuse to provide the financing you have requested.
A record of any fraud or money laundering risk will be retained by the fraud prevention agencies and may result in others refusing to provide services, financing or employment to you. If you have any questions about this, please contact us on the details provided.
Data Transfers
Whenever fraud prevention agencies transfer your personal data outside of the European Economic Area, they impose contractual obligations on the recipients of that data to protect your personal data to the standard required in the European Economic Area. They may also require the recipient to subscribe to ‘international frameworks’ intended to enable secure data sharing.
Your Rights
For more information on your rights or to exercise these rights, please see the section below headed ‘Your Rights’.
Automated processing:
We use automated and manual systems to protect ourselves, suitably authorised companies on our Lending Panel and our customers against financial crime and other crimes. When you apply to us for a loan, an automated credit scoring system may be used to help us decide whether to lend to you. The method helps us to assess the likely conduct of your agreement based on a range of data, including information relating to how you have previously run other similar agreements. We also use the information provided by the CRAs to help us to meet customer identification requirements and to confirm information that you have provided us with regarding income and expenditure. This system of credit scoring is widely used in the financial services industry and helps us to make fair and informed decisions on responsible lending. If you are declined through this automated process you may contact us within 21 days to have our Lending Panel decision reconsidered manually.
Sensitive Personal Data:
Data Protection laws define some information as “sensitive” (political opinions, religious beliefs, racial or ethnic origin, physical or mental health, trade union membership, sexual life, criminal proceedings and offences). If you apply to us for a loan, or to enable us to service that loan, we may ask you for some “sensitive” personal information. We will ask you for explicit consent to allow us to collect and keep this information. We may need to share this information with other parts of the group and our subcontractors to keep your records up to date.
We will not, without your consent, use or disclose any sensitive personal information about you, such as information about any injury or medical condition.
We record and monitor phone calls with you for quality and training purposes and to ensure that we have carried out your instructions correctly, to help resolve queries or complaints, to detect or prevent fraud or other crimes and for regulatory purposes.
Retention of your information:
We will retain personal information we collect, store and process in accordance with currently applicable laws.
We will not retain your personal information for longer than is necessary save for regulatory or legal requirements.
